Korean Spicy Stir Fried Pork (Jeyuk Bokkeum)

We're officially married and we're now Mr and Mrs Chun 😊

Cooked Korean Spicy Stir Fried Pork 제육볶음 for Mr Chun a few days ago and decided to share the recipe here. I like to cook this a lot because it's simple and does not take long to cook (less than an hour time). 💖

Here's the ingredients (get them prepare earlier to make cooking process easier and faster 😉)
This recipe can serve 3-4 pax.
Ingredient: 💕
300g of Sliced Pork Belly
5 Cloves of Garlic, Minced
1 Green Chilli Pepper, Chopped
Half of Medium Onion, Chopped
3 Stalks of Spring Onions, Chopped
2 Tablespoons of Chilli Pepper Paste
1 Tablespoon Chilli Pepper Powder/Flakes (aka Gochugaru)
Half Teaspoon of Ground Black Pepper
Half Tablespoon of Soy Sauce
1 Teaspoon of Ginger, Minced
2 Tablespoons of Roasted Sesame Seeds
1 Tablespoon of Sugar
1 Teaspoon of Sesame Oil

Steps:
1. First, put all the ingredients (except the roasted sesame seeds) into a mixing bowl. Stir and mix them well, let them marinate for about 30 minutes.
2. Heat a pan over medium heat. I used nonstick pan to avoid adding any unnecessary oil.
3. Next, add all the mixed ingredients from the mixing bowl into the pan. Stir fry and make sure to stir the pork belly once in awhile. Make sure the pork belly is well cooked, then insert the roast sesame seeds.
4. All done. It's ready to be served.

You can enjoy the Korean Spicy Stir Fried Pork with rice or even with vegetables (just wrap it with lettuce).

Hope that you'll find it useful. Thank you for reading 😇

Rose Geranium Air Freshener DIY

I've been falling in love with making homemade products such as making own handmade soap, mosquito repellent spray, and natural soap. Lately, I've found out this incredibly easy homemade air freshener DIY. I would love to share it to all of you.

Most of the people made this air freshener using mason jar. However, I personally think that it will be much prettier if we make a natural air freshener using a vase and flower instead. So here's how I made my own Rose Germanium Air Freshener.

Ingredient:

Essential Oil, Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda), Flower, Vase

Sodium bicarbonate also known as baking soda is very well known as cleaning agent. It is neutralizing agent which can absorb odour. Please be note that we are using baking soda instead of baking powder. Both of them might sound similar but baking powder is a combination of baking soda and starch powder.

Some people might wonder: "How does it differ with air freshener selling on the market? Why would I waste so much time when it only costs few dollars."

Most air fresheners that are selling on the market uses fragrance oil.  However, we use the scent from essential oil, instead of fragrance oil.

I'm using Rose Geranium Essential Oil. I got 100ml of Rose Geranium Essential Oil at less than RM100.

Fragrance Oil vs Essential Oil

Fragrance oil is artificially created fragrance that does not carry all the good benefits like essential oil. Fragrance oil only mimics the scent. It is widely used on the market cause it is very inexpensive.

Essential oil can positively affect physical and mental health. It can be used to relieve moods, sooth, calming, relieve inflammation or even kill bacteria.

Essential oil is  pricier than fragrance oil but it contains much more health benefits than fragrance oil.
Since we'll be using this for ourselves, why don't we should something that could benefit us instead of fake artificial fragrance.

Steps:
1. Firstly, pour a quarter full of sodium bicarbonate into the vase. I prefer transparent glass vase so that I could see better.

2. Add 10 drops of Rose Geranium essential oil into the sodium bicarbonate.
(You can substitute with any of your preference essential oil such as lemongrass, lavender essential oil.)

3. Mix the essential oil and sodium bicarbonate.

And our very own air freshener is ready for use!

When the scent is gone, you can add few more drops of essential oil and it will start working again :)

Hopefully some of you might find this useful and thank you for reading!

It's been almost three years since I last posted. I thought that I was going to give up on blogging, but somehow I decided not to. This blog works like my diary now, and sometimes when I read back the previous old posts, I noticed that how naive was I and started to regret why did I post it on the first hand.

Short Updates on My Current Life
  1. I am no longer a university student (in fact started working for about 2 years now).
  2. I met the love of my life while studying in Adelaide and we're getting married in few months time.
  3. Fell in love with handmade products such as soaps and sprays :)

Here's a photo of my pre-wedding photo that was taken in Korea.

That's all for today. I do not want to scare you all off with a lengthy post.

An odd experience

Just sharing an incident which i experienced yesterday.

I was walking alone yesterday, after buying some groceries from Coles. It was 34 degree.

I passed by a lady and I heard her mumbling, "Fucking Asian."

I was pretty shocked as I have not done anything wrong, or bumped into her or anything.

All I did was passing by her side.

I turned my back and looked at her, and she gave me an annoying face.

I was pretty frustrated at first, I was thinking how should I respond. But then I realized that even though people treated me rudely, I shouldn't treat them badly.

When i went back to my place, I told my housemates, Michelle and Jason about the incident and they told me that I'm considered lucky. One of our mutual friends, K got spitted on his face by some local girls.

I'm actually glad that I have met so many friendly and nice Australians here, as this is the first time of me dealing with unfriendly Australian after my eight months of staying here. Now that I thought about it, the unfriendly lady might have bad moods due to the hot weather.

-Stay Tuned-

With Love,

Lizzie L
